I am Velinda McWherter, the very blessed principal of Jack P. Timmons. My first career was in government with the Shreveport Fire Department. Then, I went back to school and began teaching  4th grade at North Highlands Elementary. From there I went to University as their coordinator, then to Vivian Elementary-Middle as the Assistant Principal of Instruction, and then to Claiborne Magnet as the principal.  Eight years ago God richly blessed me with Jack P. Timmons. This is wonderful school with fabulous parents, grandparents, and children. We work diligently to teach the children to give to those less fortunate than themselves. Our motto is "The Ideal School - the academics of Harvard, the behavior of West Point, and the fun of Disney World." We work hard to achieve this. I am married to my best friend.  We have two children and three grandchildren. To email Mrs. McWherter, click here.

Instructional Coordinator

I am Carrie Brock, instructional coordinator at JP Timmons Elementary School.  I started teaching in Caddo Parish in 2007 at Sunset Acres Elementary in first grade. From there I moved to Summer Grove Elementary School as a third grade teacher.  During my fourth year there, I was promoted as a content coach at Midway Elementary School.  For the past four years I served as Instructional Coordinator at Atkins Elementary School.  I am blessed to be able to call Timmons my new home.  I enjoy working with all stakeholders to provide the best education for every child.  I am married to an amazing man, and together we love to bless every child who comes across our paths. I firmly believe in the scripture Proverbs 22:6 which states, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”  We must make the most of every second we have with every child, for they are our future! I am Jackie Davis Levingston. I have been an educator in Caddo Parish for 20 years. My first position was at Westwood Elementary, where I taught 4th grade for 14 years and 5th grade for one year. Following that, I worked at Atkins Elementary for two years where I taught 5th grade for one year and 1st grade for one year. Afterwards, I became the lead 1st grade teacher at E.B. Williams Stoner Hill Elementary for one year. In 2015, I began my counseling career at Jack P. Timmons Elementary where I thoroughly enjoy meeting, greeting, helping and caring for a student body from Pre-K to 5th grade. There is always a way to touch a child’s life. I’m looking for the good, and I know it’s there. I truly believe this adage by Dr. Seuss - (paraphrased): “Unless parents and educators like us care a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not!”  To email Ms. Levingston, click here.
